There are a lot of myths out there about building a modular home.  Surprise surprise, most of those myths are propagated by stick home builders who do not want to transition to the future.  Blockbuster would have told you that streaming was a “fad” just so that Netflix wouldn’t bankrupt its video rental business, too.  But here we are in 2020, with multiple streaming services and physical rental stores a thing of the past.

Myth #1:  Modular homes are difficult to finance.

This couldn’t be further from the truth.  Community banks have finance modular homes for many years, and Bank of America finances now finances these types of homes.  If a national bank will finance this type of housing, it’s not as difficult as you might think to secure a mortgage.

Myth #2: You cannot customize a modular home.

Ehhh, wrong.  You can customize a modular home whatever way you’d like.  Whether you want crown molding inside or a special roof, you can do whatever the heck you want with a modular home.

Myth #3: I have to build a modular home with a local company.

Again, wrong.  You can build a modular home in China and have it shipped to the US.  The parts will be included along with instructions for the contractor on how to build it.

Myth #4: I need to find a special type of builder to erect the home.

Any contractor who has any experience building stick homes will be able to build a prefabricated home.  It is easier, faster and cheaper to build a modular home.
